Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training

Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training

The Maske-Wien Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training covers the most important practical areas relevant to working as a makeup artist in TV, film, television, and beauty: Character Makeup, Bald Cap Application, Wig and Beard Ventilating, Silicone Prosthetic Makeup including Life Casting and Mold Making, Wounds and Injury Effects, Body Airbrush, and Hairstyling.

A prerequisite for the Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training is the successful completion of the Maske-Wien Professional Makeup Artist Training or another makeup artist training program recognized by us.

By arrangement, it is also possible to begin directly with the Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training and complete the Professional Makeup Artist Training afterward.

The Basic Prosthetic Makeup Training concludes with a final examination and a Diploma.

Basic Makeup Effects Training – Full-Time or Part-Time

The Basic Makeup Effects Training is normally completed over 10 consecutive weeks on a full-time basis (52 days / 312 hours).
However, if time or budget considerations make it preferable, you may spread the individual courses that make up the Basic Makeup Effects Training over several semesters. This option is available as the part-time training pathway.
Please note that enrolling in the complete full-time program is more cost-effective than booking the individual courses separately. (For details, see the menu section: Courses.)

Diploma Qualification

At the end of the program, participants receive professional photographs of their work.

After completing the Basic Makeup Effects Training, you have the opportunity to further expand your skills through the Maske-Wien Advanced Makeup Effects Training or one of our Hollywood Masterclasses.

Please refer to the pink balloon on this page for the detailed training schedule.

Good to Know:

Compared to the traditional three-year Makeup Effects apprenticeship, the training at Maske-Wien as a private academy offers a shorter and more intensive route into the profession. The three programs — Beauty Makeup Training, Basic Makeup Effects Training, and Advanced Makeup Effects Training — running from September through April, cover content comparable to that of the apprenticeship program. Many of our graduates, however, successfully enter the industry immediately after completing the Basic Makeup Effects Training.

Over the years, we have been able to help many of our graduates find employment. We also regularly have opportunities to bring our students and graduates along on their first paid professional assignments working alongside our team.
